FTSE 100 claws back losses while Brent holds above $100

London’s benchmark index rose at the start of the week after a bond sell-off shook global markets. City A.M. also said Brent held above $100 a barrel and BT shares jumped on a TalkTalk rescue deal.

The FTSE 100 was higher on Monday, recovering some of its losses from Friday after a global bond rout sent ripples through major exchanges, according to City A.M.’s live market blog.

Brent crude, the international benchmark, gave up modest early gains but remained above $100 a barrel. That kept oil markets in focus as investors began the week amid continued volatility.

City A.M.’s headline roundup also highlighted a rise in BT shares linked to a rescue deal for telecoms company TalkTalk. The available update did not give the size of the share-price move or details of the agreement.
