Philadelphia led 20-10 with less than eight minutes left but failed to score from the two-yard line and lost 14 yards across its final two possessions. Los Angeles answered with two long touchdown drives.
The Philadelphia Eagles lost 24-20 at home to the Los Angeles Rams after surrendering a 10-point lead late in the game. The Rams stopped quarterback Jalen Hurts on Philadelphia’s signature Tush Push from the two-yard line, then forced an incomplete pass on fourth down.
Philadelphia lost a combined 14 yards on its next two possessions. Los Angeles responded with back-to-back 10-play drives, each ending in a rushing touchdown by Kyren Williams. The Eagles had been 41-0, including the playoffs, when leading by at least 10 points in the final five minutes with Hurts at quarterback, according to CBS Sports Research.
Philadelphia also went 0-for-12 on third downs. The team was already without wide receiver DeVonta Smith, tight end Dallas Goedert, guard Landon Dickerson and tackle Lane Johnson. Running back Saquon Barkley left with a hamstring injury.
Hurts called the defeat a matter of poor execution and said he had to improve. Coach Nick Sirianni also pointed to the third-down failures. The loss extended an offensive slump for Philadelphia, which has been held scoreless after halftime in each of its last two games.
