Onwuzurike, who was released during final cuts before Week 1 and re‑signed to the practice squad the following day, is now back on the 53‑man roster as the Lions look to bolster their defensive line for the upcoming matchup.

The 2021 second‑round draft pick has appeared in 42 games over his first four NFL seasons, but missed the entire 2023 campaign after suffering a torn ACL that required surgery and extensive rehabilitation.

In addition to Onwuzurike’s promotion, Detroit elevated offensive tackle Devin Cochran and center Seth McLaughlin from the practice squad to provide depth for Thursday night’s contest in Buffalo.

The Lions also confirmed that left guard Christian Mahogany and right tackle Blake Miller are ruled out for the game, leaving the offensive line short on healthy starters and prompting the need for the newly promoted players.
