The new installment of the Control franchise transports players to a distorted version of Manhattan, where they will control Dylan Faden – the brother of series protagonist Jesse Faden – as he navigates a city torn apart by a supernatural crisis.
According to Remedy’s description, Dylan emerges from years of confinement by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) to confront a mysterious cosmic entity capable of reshaping reality, battling threats ranging from the chaotic Hiss to a parasitic microorganism known as the Mold, as well as other twisted paraphysical dangers.
The official synopsis emphasizes Dylan’s quest to unlock the full potential of his paraphysical abilities while searching for his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, and attempting to contain the forces that have escaped the Oldest House and threaten to unravel the world.
Gameplay will shift toward a pure hack‑and‑slash experience, moving away from the first game’s action‑shooter roots. While Remedy cited inspiration from the Devil May Cry series and PlatinumGames, the studio stressed that the original Control remained the primary guide for the new combat design.
Gameplay designer Sergey Mohov revealed that a typical playthrough will last around 30 hours, with completionists who explore every corner of the game potentially spending up to 50 hours to experience all content.
Control Resonant is set to launch on September 24 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Remedy later announced on X that the physical edition, originally slated for the same day, will be delayed to October 15 to allow extra time for delivery.
The final trailer, now available online, showcases the game’s expansive city zones, the looming presence of the Hiss and Mold, and Dylan’s burgeoning powers, giving fans a clear glimpse of the tone and scale of the upcoming sequel.
