According to a report by The Information, Anthropic is discussing a lease of as much as 1 GW of capacity with Stream Data Centers, a developer that is majority‑owned by private‑equity firm Apollo Global Management.
The same outlet disclosed in June that Anthropic had already signed more than 12 preliminary agreements to lease U.S. data‑centre sites whose combined capacity exceeds one gigawatt.
Industry observers note that such a scale of infrastructure is critical for training and running large language models, and Anthropic’s Claude series has been expanding its capabilities in recent months.
The report also says Anthropic is seeking financial backing from Google to help cover the lease payments, though the nature of any potential partnership has not been confirmed.
