The solution expands Barracuda’s AI security portfolio, offering real‑time visibility into the use of more than 1,300 generative AI tools—including Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini—while applying data‑protection policies by team, tool and data type.
According to Barracuda’s own research, nearly half of senior IT leaders say their teams lack the skills needed to govern AI already deployed across their businesses, a gap the company says larger vendors have largely ignored in favor of enterprise‑focused offerings.
AI Data Security is designed for quick deployment and includes pre‑built detections for sensitive information such as customer data, passwords, financial records and proprietary code, as well as safeguards against prompt‑injection, jailbreak attempts, hate speech and other policy‑violating content, referencing the OWASP LLM Top 10 risk framework.
For compliance teams, the product records AI interactions and can export logs for auditors or insurers, addressing growing demand for demonstrable AI usage controls in regulated sectors.
Barracuda’s Chief Product Officer Neal Bradbury highlighted the product’s “single, easy‑to‑deploy solution” as a way for organizations to secure a new attack surface while still accelerating AI adoption.
Healthcare group Horizon Health Alliance cited the need to protect patient data and enforce consistent policy enforcement, saying the new tool would let them adopt AI faster with less risk.
Managed service providers are also a core audience; Elevate Technology Group’s CEO Geoff Turner said the solution enables MSPs to centrally manage multiple customers, offering bundled pricing that fits existing service structures.
Barracuda notes that the product will be included in its SecureEdge Premium Access offering at no additional cost, positioning it as the first of several planned AI security innovations.
