The appointment comes as Polavaram district, which was carved out of Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Jan. 1, begins to staff its administrative machinery. The new district includes the jurisdiction of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency at Chintoor and Rampachodavaram.
Polavaram is headquartered at Rampachodavaram and shares borders with the Indian states of Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Odisha, positioning it at a strategic tri‑state junction.
Chakravarthy is an Indian Police Service officer from the 2020 batch of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, bringing several years of service experience to the role.
As the first superintendent, he will be responsible for establishing policing structures and overseeing law‑enforcement operations in a district that is largely tribal and situated at a multi‑state frontier.
