District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar and Nagapattinam MLA M.H. Jawahirullah personally oversaw the distribution, signalling the administration’s focus on direct cash relief for vulnerable households.
The assistance forms part of the state’s broader Kuruvai Cultivation Special Package Scheme, under which 1,910 acres have been earmarked in the district and a total of ₹1 crore allocated for the programme.
To date, the scheme has disbursed ₹1,00,07,820 as incentives to 1,420 farmers, aiming to boost productivity and mitigate the impact of erratic monsoons on rice cultivation.
Looking ahead, officials confirmed that the target for samba paddy cultivation in the 2026‑27 season remains at 61,915 hectares, unchanged from the previous year, reflecting a steady commitment to the district’s agricultural output.
The welfare camp, organized by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, is part of a series of outreach events intended to streamline the delivery of state-sponsored benefits to remote communities.
