At the opening of the Snapdragon Summit, Motorola confirmed that Qira – the always‑on, context‑aware AI co‑developed with Lenovo – will be enabled on a broader set of devices through the upcoming Android 17 upgrade.
The AI can be summoned with the wake word “Hey Qira” and offers features such as “Catch me up,” which aggregates notifications and news, “Style Sync,” which suggests fashion outfits, and “Next Move,” which proposes next actions based on the user’s current activity, like summarising a blog post or reminding about a flight.
Motorola highlighted cross‑device continuity, saying users will be able to continue a project started on their phone on a PC, and that Qira’s knowledge base will sync saved files, preferences and other data across phone, desktop, watch and PC.
In addition to voice activation, Qira can be interacted with via text, images or video, and it can transcribe audio recordings to summarise key points through the “Pay Attention” function.
The rollout will be limited to Motorola’s flagship lines – the Signature, Razr and Edge models – while earlier this year the company introduced Qira as a step beyond simple chatbots toward a “personal ambient intelligence” system that works across Android, PC and other platforms.
Motorola noted that Qira’s capabilities depend on user permissions; features that access email, notifications or other personal data can be disabled if the user chooses not to grant access.
