Anto Augustine, the managing director of the Malayalam news channel Reporter TV, approached the Ernakulam Sessions Court with two anticipatory bail applications, a legal step taken to avoid arrest pending further investigation.
The first petition relates to a controversy surrounding a failed attempt to bring the Argentina national football team to Kerala, a bid that did not materialise and has since drawn legal scrutiny. The court is expected to hear this application on Thursday.
The second bail plea stems from Augustine’s public allegations that Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan entered into a second marriage while his first marriage remains subsisting. The hearing for this application is scheduled for September 26.
Both cases remain pending, and the court’s decisions on the bail applications will determine whether Augustine can avoid arrest while the matters are investigated.
