The closure applies to the entire Friday schedule, affecting students, staff and the public sector across the capital region as devotees prepare for the concluding immersion ceremonies of the Ganesh festival.
The order was issued by the state government on Wednesday, citing the need to ensure public safety and smooth conduct of the immersion process in the city’s waterways.
To offset the lost working day, the government declared that November 14, a second Saturday, will be treated as a regular working day for institutions within the affected districts.
