The suspects – K. Sasikumar, 27, T. Bharath, 27, and S. Nirmala, 47 – were identified by the Ambur town police and taken to Central Prison in Vellore after a case was lodged against them.
According to the initial inquiry, the confrontation started when J. Sriram, 23, was waiting for a friend outside his house and objected to Sasikumar parking his two‑wheeler close to the property. The argument escalated when Sasikumar was joined by his relatives Bharath and Nirmala.
R. Devaraj, 60, the grandfather of Sriram, intervened in an attempt to calm the two groups. He was subsequently assaulted by the trio led by Sasikumar, sustaining injuries that proved fatal.
Devaraj was rushed to the Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur, where doctors confirmed that he had been brought dead. The police have registered a murder case and a probe into the incident is ongoing.
The case underscores how seemingly minor disputes, such as parking disagreements, can quickly turn violent in rural communities, prompting law‑enforcement officials to call for greater vigilance and conflict‑resolution mechanisms.
