The court, which handles cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, found Kumar guilty of kidnapping the minor after a complaint was lodged by the girl’s mother.
According to the charge sheet, Kumar, the son of Arumugam from Indian Bank Colony in Ambattur, took the 15‑year‑old girl away on February 25, 2024, allegedly after assuring her of marriage.
The Ambattur All Women Police Station registered the case and conducted an investigation that culminated in the filing of a charge sheet against the accused.
The matter was then brought before the Special Court for POCSO Cases in Tiruvallur, where the judge, after reviewing the evidence, ordered the 15‑year‑long rigorous imprisonment and imposed a monetary penalty of ₹10,000.
The sentencing underscores the court’s commitment to enforcing the POCSO Act, which seeks to deter sexual offences against children and protect vulnerable minors.
