Investigators said Behara’s body was found at a vacant site in Agrahara Layout, M.S. Nagar. Police allege that her husband, Sagar Chandra Rawat, killed her after a financial dispute at their rented home near Sampigehalli on August 11. The allegations have not been adjudicated in court.
According to police, the body remained in the home for three days before it was wrapped in bedding and left at the site around 3 a.m. on August 16. The property owner alerted police after finding it. Investigators said early inquiries at nearby hotels and paying-guest accommodations did not establish the woman’s identity.
Police then examined the clothing, a pendant and bangles. A tag on the garment led investigators to a shopping complex in Bhubaneswar, where sales information helped identify the woman. Her family has identified her, while a DNA test is planned as confirmation.
Rawat, 32, was arrested in connection with the alleged killing. Sampigehalli police registered a first information report under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case remains under investigation.
