Shamrock claimed the feature race at Mysuru on Friday, September 25, winning the 1,600-metre Maharaja’s Cup with Suraj in the saddle. Trained by S. Narredu, the horse finished ahead of Prokofiev, ridden by Sandesh, and Once You Go Black, partnered by Yash. Pride’s Prince, with Antony aboard, placed fourth. The winner covered the distance in 1 minute 36.40 seconds. Galahad and Promiseofthefuture did not run. Shamrock is owned by M. Ravi, Daulat Chhabria, K. Kaliyaperumal and R. Chellam.
The seven-race programme also produced victories for six other runners. Alluring Beauty, ridden by Md. Talib, won the 1,400-metre Jayanagara Plate in 1:25.01. Brocston was second, followed by Looking For Ladoo and Gentleman’s Word. Brocston had been the favourite.
Satin Lass, with Shyam K. aboard, took the second division of the 1,200-metre Valarosa Plate in 1:11.79. Knotty In Blue finished second, True Gold third and SD Queen fourth; The Sizable did not run. In the 1,400-metre Sri C. Sashachalam Memorial Trophy, Money Fair and jockey R. Pradeep led Cynosure, Mystic Charm and Falcon Fury. The winning time was 1:24.14. Heroism and Natural Gold were listed as non-runners.
Sicyon, ridden by Shreyas S., won the 1,200-metre Urs Kar Trophy in 1:10.54. Flight On, N R I Ace and Royal Deccan completed the first four, while The Golden Sunrise did not run. Dynamic Force, with Akshay K. up, won the 1,600-metre Alekona Trophy in 1:38.83, ahead of Regal Aristocracy, Sunlit Path and Star Comet.
The final event listed, the first division of the 1,200-metre Valarosa Plate, went to Sunway Lagoon under Laxman S. The horse finished in 1:12.70, followed by Misty Warrior, Secret Shadow and Royal Chivalry. Mriga and Gajabo Grande were non-runners. Across the card, the results give the clearest picture of the day: Shamrock took the feature cup, while the six supporting races each had a different winner.
