Customers who stay with the same internet provider for years may pay more for broadband and television than new subscribers pay for comparable bundles. De Telegraaf says long-time customers can miss introductory discounts and continue paying an older rate for the same package.
The Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) wants to alert these so-called dormant customers. The newspaper’s headline says consumers may save hundreds of euros, but the available information does not support a universal savings figure; the result depends on each contract and offer.
Customers can review their monthly bill, connection speed, TV options and the end date of any discount against current plans. Before switching, they should check cancellation terms and any additional charges.
