Hari Cuci Malaysia (HCM) 2026 brought residents, government agencies, private businesses, community groups and volunteers together for a clean-up at Junjong Waterfall Recreation Park in Kulim. The event was framed as a way to strengthen local habits around cleanliness and shared responsibility for the environment.
The Kulim Municipal Council (MPKK) organised the programme with support from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. Council whip Badrol Hisam Mohd Yusoff, who officiated on behalf of MPKK president Datuk Elmi Yusoff, said the initiative was about more than cleaning an area after pollution had occurred: responsibility, he said, begins with each individual.
Badrol Hisam said the programme promoted prevention through reducing waste, separating it for disposal, reusing items and recycling materials. He said those practices could help make care for public spaces part of everyday life.
The choice of a natural recreation area also highlighted the need to protect public outdoor assets. Activities included an aerobics session, an opening ceremony, a group clean-up around the park and a lucky draw. Organisers said direct community participation helps keep public places and recreation areas clean, safe and comfortable to use.
