A year after filmmaker and television host Tigran Keosayan’s death, a memorial to him has been installed in Moscow. The composition takes the form of a director’s chair, with a screenplay for his film The Immortals on the seat and a jacket draped over the back. His wife, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, shared photographs of the monument.
The memorial stands near the graves of Keosayan’s father, filmmaker Edmond Keosayan, and his brother David, according to TASS. Simonyan has said that her husband’s body is not buried there and that his ashes are kept in a blue vase on her bedside table.
She described the monument as one of three tributes established over the past year. The others are the Keosayan award, received by 30 people, and her book, Not the First Love: A Confession of Grief and Joy. Simonyan’s post also recalled a gathering where friends remembered the director and read from the book.
Keosayan died on 26 September 2025, aged 59. Earlier that year, Simonyan said he had suffered clinical death and was in a coma. His farewell ceremony took place on 28 September 2025 at the Armenian Church in Moscow.
His directing credits include the films Poor Sasha, Silver Lily of the Valley, Crimean Bridge: Made with Love! and The Immortals, as well as the series Yalta-45 and Sea. Mountains. Expanded Clay.
