Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka asked Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and officials to discuss the proposal with IT company executives and tourism operators. The stated aim is to steer visitors towards lesser-known destinations and create a larger domestic travel market within Telangana.

The idea was raised at the state’s World Tourism Day event at Shilparamam. It forms part of a wider plan to use digital technology, artificial intelligence and private investment to strengthen Telangana’s position as a tourism destination.

Tourism Minister Rao said the government is targeting ₹50,000 crore in tourism investment and five lakh jobs. The Telangana Tourism Policy 2025–30 initially set a ₹15,000 crore investment target; the government later raised it to ₹50,000 crore, he said. The policy also identifies 27 Special Tourism Areas for development.

Plans span Buddhist sites, waterfalls, rivers, wellness and medical travel, film tourism, eco-tourism and adventure activities. The state tourism corporation operates boating facilities at about 99 locations and is seeking private partners to modernise services. The coupons remain under consideration; no value or launch date has been announced. Source: The Hindu.
