Church bells in Oslo’s Torshov district stopped ringing at about 01.30 after roughly an hour of continuous noise. Police operations leader Tor Gulbrandsen told VG that the first call came at around 00.13.
The bells were still ringing when police contacted church staff. Gulbrandsen said a technical fault was the most likely explanation, and staff were trying to stop the mechanism.
By 01.30 the bells had fallen silent and quiet returned to the neighborhood. Police reported no injuries; the precise cause of the fault was not specified.
