In a Facebook post, Bence Rétvári, leader of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (KDNP) parliamentary group, said Judit Lannert’s husband received 57,082,800 forints for serving as an asset controller for the Gróf Tisza István University Foundation, which maintains the University of Debrecen. Rétvári linked the claim to criticism of Hungary’s public-interest asset-management foundations, known as KEKVA, and said opposition politician Péter Magyar repeatedly attacks the system. He questioned the consistency of that criticism and suggested either that the Lannert family had also taken part in wrongdoing or that the opposition’s campaign against KEKVA was unfounded. These were Rétvári’s political assertions, not findings from an investigation.
Rétvári also said Lannert had been tasked with reviewing and restructuring university foundations, then asked whether she would examine her husband’s work and the basis for his compensation. He suggested the disclosure could affect the trust of Tisza Party supporters in Lannert. HVG’s report did not include a response from Lannert or her husband.
