Indonesia’s roster included Deni Ardiyanto, Marcello Hillers, Muhammad Haikal Irawan, Judha Raja Panggabean and Novrizal Diananta. The final was played over four games, each lasting 10 minutes. Indonesia won the opener, but Japan levelled the series, moved ahead in game three and won the fourth to secure gold.
After the match, Panggabean said the team had trusted its strategy but fell slightly short in execution. He said Indonesia came close in the fourth game, but Japan captured the final objective.
Indonesia reached the final by beating the Philippines 2–0 in the semifinal. In Group B, it defeated Singapore and Hong Kong 2–1, then beat Malaysia 2–0 in the quarterfinal. Japan advanced after defeating South Korea in its semifinal.
