A document shared by Lapid says the parties will seek to raise turnout among their supporters and attract voters from across society in an effort to win a majority and form a new government. Each of the three teams will handle a separate part of that plan.
The first group will focus on voter participation and election integrity. The second will draft basic principles for a future opposition-led government. Proposals include an official commission of inquiry into the October 7, 2023 attack and the drafting of a new constitution. The third team will coordinate media strategy and address what the parties describe as false news and smear campaigns.
In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on X that Gadi Eisenkot of Yashar was seeking to form a government with Lapid, Golan, Bennett 2026, Yisrael Beiteinu and several Arab parties. Netanyahu said only a strong Likud could prevent such a coalition from taking power.
Former prime minister Bennett said he believes the opposition alliance could win 63 seats and work together to bring change to Israel. He said the parties had agreed to cooperate fully before, during and after the election with the aim of forming a new government.
The election is expected to test Netanyahu’s leadership as opposition parties try to consolidate support and end the rule of his government. The report did not specify an election date.
