Malaysia’s National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) chair Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said the 2026 Bulan Menabung Simpan SSPN (BMS) campaign aims to attract 250 million ringgit in deposits. The campaign runs from September 25 to November 1.
Norliza said early financial planning gives families room to fund their children’s education and reduces reliance on education loans. Speaking at the launch at Central i-City Mall, she said saving gives families more options as they plan their children’s educational path.
As of August 31, 2026, Simpan SSPN had 7.66 million accounts and had received deposits totalling 25.86 billion ringgit. Draw winner Siti Aisyah Mohd Noh said education savings are part of her family’s preparation for future higher-education costs, which she described as rising.
Another winner, Md Doli Mohd Nor, said he encourages his children to set aside small amounts, including one ringgit a day from their pocket money. PTPTN lists benefits including income-tax relief on savings of up to 8,000 ringgit a year, free takaful protection for depositors, a matching grant of up to 10,000 ringgit for an eligible family, competitive dividends, Shariah compliance and a government guarantee.
The campaign also features family activities such as colouring, costume, talent and song contests. A state-level event is scheduled for October 3 at Mydin Bukit Mertajam in Penang, alongside activities at selected locations nationwide.
