Malaysia’s embassy in Bangkok has delivered dry food supplies to ten Malaysian citizens and locally hired embassy staff directly affected by flooding in the Thai capital. Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah told Bernama that the aid was distributed on Sunday.
The recipients were identified among locally hired staff and Malaysians living nearby. Shelf-stable food was provided as an initial emergency measure for people facing disrupted access to food and everyday necessities.
Ambassador Wan Zaidi led the handover mission, while on-the-ground distribution and coordination were headed by Malaysia’s defence attaché to Thailand, Brigadier General Datuk Samsul Rizal Musa. The operation ran from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The embassy will continue monitoring the floods and provide further assistance where needed. Wan Zaidi urged Malaysians in affected areas to remain alert, as rain is forecast to continue through September 30, and to consult official travel advice issued by the embassy.
