Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi revisited the 2016 cross-border strikes during Sunday’s “Mann Ki Baat” broadcast, describing them as a decisive response to terrorism and an example of India’s counter-terrorism policy.
Modi linked the operation to the attack on an Army camp in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir. He said Indian forces struck what authorities described as terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control on September 28–29, 2016, and said the operation drew international attention.
He also called participation in the ongoing census a national responsibility and encouraged people to use the online enumeration option. On narcotics, Modi cited the Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan, saying young people were raising awareness and pledging to stay away from drugs.
