The 37-year-old former Germany international scored his ninth goal of the season for Vancouver Whitecaps in a 3–3 MLS draw with DC United. Müller started a solo run just beyond the halfway line and struck from about 20 metres in the 72nd minute; the ball went in off the inside of the right post.
His goal gave Vancouver a 3–2 lead, but Kimito Nono equalized for the visitors in the 80th minute. The Whitecaps remain top of the Western Conference, three points ahead of FC Dallas, who have played one more match.
Elsewhere, Los Angeles Galaxy beat Colorado Rapids 3–2. Marco Reus came on in the 61st minute with Galaxy trailing 2–1 and helped turn the game around. Klauss equalized in the 66th minute before Justin Haak scored the winner eight minutes later.
