The Negeri Sembilan state administration will continue as usual despite vacancies on its State Executive Council (Exco), Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, chairman of the state UMNO liaison committee, said. He said public interest and welfare remain the priority.
Jalaluddin said several approaches could safeguard service delivery and the implementation of government policy. He said earlier discussions were expected to produce the best approach and stressed that the state government should keep operating as usual.
Asked about the absence of Exco members in the state government, Jalaluddin said Chief Minister Datuk Ismail Lasim had his own formula for keeping the government machinery moving. Public-facing programmes and activities, he said, would continue without interruption.
Barisan Nasional met on Sunday night with 25 of its state assembly members at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) to discuss developments in Negeri Sembilan and possible solutions to the political situation.
The report said the appointment of 10 Exco members had been cancelled. Efforts are under way to keep the state government functioning without affecting public interest.
