Vikten, a village in Flakstad in Norway’s Lofoten Islands, was isolated after a rockslide blocked county road 7600. Norwegian news agency NTB reported that a large boulder was lying in the road about one kilometre from the E10.
The slide brought down a power line, leaving 67 customers without electricity, according to Lofotposten. Police told NRK that about 140 people were cut off: around 70 permanent residents and another 70 visitors who were in the village for a weekend event.
Nordland police operations leader Thomas Jarnæs Coe said the road would remain closed until a geologist could inspect the area. The specialist was expected on Monday. Police said nobody was caught in the slide and that they received the alert at 4:58 p.m.
