Severe flooding continues to affect eastern Bangkok. Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said in a live Facebook post on Sunday morning that water had filled the Lat Phrao, Prawet Burirom, Prem Prachakorn and Saen Saep canals, where pumps were experiencing problems. More than 30,000 people were affected in Lat Krabang district, he said, while Ramkhamhaeng and Bang Kapi also faced severe flooding.
About 10 millimetres of rain fell on Sunday morning. Chadchart said flooding remained serious in the capital's eastern districts and officials were trying to speed up drainage. He made the remarks while riding as a passenger on a motorcycle taxi towards City Hall in Din Daeng.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Drainage and Sewerage Department reported water depths of 59 centimetres on Soi Senanikhom in Chatuchak; 54cm on Lat Phrao 122 near Chaleena Princess Hotel in Wang Thonglang; 53cm on Ngam Wong Wan Road at Phong Phet intersection in Laksi; 46.6cm on Pattanakan Road at Srinagarindra Road in Suan Luang; 42cm on Ramkhamhaeng 43/1 in Wang Thonglang; 41.7cm on Nawamin Road at Santi Asok in Bung Kum; 36.3cm on Ngam Wong Wan Road at Soi Chinakhet in Laksi; and 29.9cm on Phetchaburi Road at Singha Complex in Huai Khwang.
Water reached about 20cm on roads across Lat Krabang, Bang Khen, Chatuchak, Lat Phrao, Don Muang, Bung Kum, Suan Luang, Bang Kapi, Wang Thonglang, Phra Khanong and Min Buri. The affected routes included Chaokhun Thahan, Thepharak, Senanikhom 1, Chaeng Watthana, Chang Akat Uthit, Nawamin 155 and 38, Prasert Manukit, Phahon Yothin, Pattanakan 53, Ramkhamhaeng, Ram Intra 5, Lat Phrao 89, 110 and 64, Wachiratham Sathit, Watcharapol 8, Vibhavadi, Srinagarindra, Sri Buranukit 14, Sukhumvit 71, Sukhonthasawat 25/2, Suwinthawong, Luang Phaeng, Hua Mak, On Nut 59 and Intrapon. Levels of 8.5 to 15.7cm were recorded on Phahon Yothin 60/1, Sukhaphiban 5, Lat Krabang 30/1, Phahon Yothin near the 11th Infantry Regiment and Seri Thai near Bangchan Industrial Estate.
The report listed widespread street flooding and ongoing drainage efforts but gave no timetable for the water to recede.
