A company in Sinop has adapted the local “suspended” food model for fish. With bonito plentiful this season and selling for about 50 to 100 lira per fish in the city, the business restarted the campaign to help residents who struggle to afford food, especially students.
Company representative İbrahim Gündoğdu said a similar scheme ran during last year’s anchovy season and received a positive response. Customers can leave money toward “suspended bonito”; the company combines those contributions with its own support and passes the fish on to people who need it.
The business plans to continue the initiative until the end of the season. Gündoğdu said some residents began leaving contributions specifically for the campaign after hearing about it.
