At the start of the recorded message, Donald Trump greeted the Polish American Congress and its president, Hubert Cioromski. The US president said it was an honor to welcome Polish Americans from across the country to Washington for a celebration of 250 years of Polish contributions to America.
Speaking about the American War of Independence, Trump cited generals Kazimierz Pułaski and Tadeusz Kościuszko, who fought alongside the American colonists against Britain. He said Polish-American patriots had helped win and defend American freedom.
Trump also thanked the Polish-American community for its support in the 2024 presidential election. He said Polish voters had helped him win and cited tax cuts and investments in border security and the military as achievements of his administration. He added that, with the community’s support, he would oppose people who, in his words, were trying to turn the United States into a communist country.
The US president separately thanked Polish President Karol Nawrocki, calling him a friend of the Polish people and a strong person. Trump said a commemorative plaque from Poland marking the US 250th anniversary would be placed at the United States’ Arc de Triomphe.
The recording was played at the opening of the digital exhibition “250 Years of America: The Polish Contribution,” which presents Polish contributions to US history and development. At the event, Deputy State Secretary Agnieszka Jędrzak read a letter from Nawrocki. It recalled the declaration of independence by 13 British colonies and described the contributions of Poles and Polish Americans, including scientists, entrepreneurs, public servants and military personnel.
