Vladimir Dimitrijević, head of Serbia’s Republic Election Commission (RIK), said the commission was carrying out election procedures in line with the law and established deadlines. He said everything would be ready for elections to proceed smoothly by Oct. 25.
Twelve electoral lists have now been proclaimed, down from 13 after one was withdrawn. Five of the 12 have the status of national-minority lists. About 6.44 million voters are currently entered in the unified voter register, although the figure changes daily.
Voters can check whether they are registered, find their polling place and identify errors through the Ministry’s website using a link on RIK’s site. A new option for this election allows checks through the eGovernment portal, eUprava. Officials urged voters to correct any inaccuracies in time.
RIK has also launched online training for prospective polling-board members. The course consists of 10 lessons and any citizen may sign up. Dimitrijević said around 14 complaints concerning the protection of electoral rights had been filed so far; all were rejected, mostly over the proclamation of electoral lists.
