The Slovak government will hold its next field meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the village of Uhrovec in the Trenčín region. According to the government office, the cabinet will focus on the districts of Považská Bystrica, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Myjava and Bánovce nad Bebravou, including their shared needs and local characteristics.
About 181,000 people live in the four districts. The government says labour-market conditions are relatively favourable: district unemployment rates in August 2026 ranged from 2.83% to 3.13%, with an average of 2.99% across the four districts.
Common priorities identified by the government include creating conditions for jobs and business, improving transport and public services, supporting education and stabilizing the population. Officials also say the region should make use of its natural, cultural and historical assets to develop tourism.
Sites highlighted include Manínska Gorge, Beckov, Čachtice and Tematín castles, the kopanice settlements around Myjava and Uhrovec Castle. The government also points to Uhrovec’s historical importance: Slovak figures Ľudovít Štúr and Alexander Dubček were born in the same house there.
