Bettison said two men and two women, estimated to be about 20 to 30 years old, were taken to hospital. Police have suspicions about a possible shooter but have not released the person’s identity or other details.
The chief said the venue was already known to law enforcement, which had responded there at least seven times this year. Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield called the shooting “absolutely devastating” and said the city would continue a firm effort against illegal establishments.
Polish broadcaster RMF24 cited WCNC’s report of three deaths and four people injured. The account did not name the victims.
