The U.S. list of goods proposed for export to China includes meat, seafood, dairy products, grains, coal, timber and medical equipment. The list for Chinese goods entering the United States includes fireworks, household products, sports equipment and toys. The details appear in the White House list and a statement by China’s Commerce Ministry; Beijing has not released its own confirmed list.
In a statement on Sept. 28, China said tariff reductions under the arrangement would take place at the same time after the parties completed procedures required by domestic law. The ministry said about 90% of the products covered by the reciprocal arrangement would have tariffs reduced to most-favoured-nation rates.
China also said the framework includes U.S. coal. The White House had previously said Beijing agreed to import at least 10 million tonnes from the United States in 2027 and another 10 million tonnes in 2028.
Following the summit between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, the two governments also agreed to establish a U.S.-China Board of Trade and an agricultural working group, hold regular discussions on investment barriers, and open an artificial-intelligence dialogue with a channel for communicating about AI-related incidents. China’s Commerce Ministry said the agriculture group, jointly led with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, would hold its first meeting by the end of 2026.
