Prosecutor seeks life sentence for Samuel S. in Slovak school deaths

In closing arguments on Tuesday, Sept. 29, prosecutor Michal Šoltýs asked the Specialized Criminal Court in Pezinok to sentence defendant Samuel S. to life imprisonment. The case concerns last year’s attack at a gymnasium in Spišská Stará Ves, where two people were killed.

Šoltýs said a life sentence was needed to protect society. He stressed the gravity of the act, describing it as planned and carried out in cold blood. The prosecutor said a lesser sentence would leave no hope of rehabilitating the defendant.

The request was made in the prosecution’s closing statement. The TASR report was marked as being updated. The court has yet to issue a decision; the prosecutor’s requested sentence is not a verdict.
