On Tuesday, September 29, Britain's counter-terrorism police said no improvised explosive devices had been found in an investigation into a suspected plot targeting RAF Fairford, a British airbase used by US forces to strike Iran. Police recovered some petrol while searching vehicles at the scene.
Police also searched properties in London. Investigative scenes around RAF Fairford are being scaled back and are expected to close completely by Wednesday.
Five men arrested on Sunday remain under investigation after being released on bail. Police said the release was an investigative decision. Laurence Taylor, head of national counter-terrorism policing, said it was grounded in experience and careful consideration of policing powers.
