A woman accused of shooting at the home of singer Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky has been found mentally competent to stand trial. The decision came Tuesday after months of psychiatric examinations. “The criminal case resumes,” Judge Maria Cavalluzzi said.
Police and prosecutors allege that on March 8 the woman drove a Tesla to the couple’s Beverly Hills property and fired at least 20 rounds from a rifle through the car window, targeting the home and a neighboring house. The 36-year-old has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder of Rihanna and several other charges connected with the shooting.
No one was injured. Bullets pierced a trailer where Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were staying, and several shots struck a wall of the children’s room. The couple’s three young children were there with a nanny at the time.
Investigators say the neighboring property was also targeted. There is no known relationship between the defendant and the artists. The competency finding allows the criminal case to proceed; it is not a finding of guilt.
