Annual spending on clothing and footwear in Greece reached €4.6 billion in 2025, according to data from ELSTAT cited by the Hellenic Association of Knitting and Ready-Made Garment Enterprises. Average annual spending per person rose to €443 from €432 in 2024.
Average monthly household expenditure increased 5.5% to €1,820 from €1,725. After accounting for official inflation of 2.6%, the rise was 2.9% in 2024 prices.
Clothing and footwear ranked sixth among household spending categories, accounting for 4.9% of total consumption, down from 5.0% in 2024. Spending on the category grew 2.5%, slightly below overall consumption growth. Food made up 20.4% of spending, housing 14.7%, transport 13.6%, leisure, travel and restaurants 11.8%, and healthcare 7.6%. Source: Naftemporiki.
