Say Agency announced that the two St Petersburg concerts by the American rapper, who performs as YE, would not take place on October 10 and 11. The organiser said people who had already bought tickets would receive refunds.
West's planned visit prompted sharply divided reactions in Russia. Concerts by the artist have been banned in several European countries because of his antisemitic remarks. Tens of thousands of tickets reportedly sold soon after the Russian dates were announced in mid-August.
He was set to be one of the best-known international stars to perform in Russia since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, while most artists have chosen not to visit the country.
Some Russian lawmakers celebrated the booking as a victory over what they called “anti-Russian hysteria.” Others criticised the invitation because of West's past statements in support of Adolf Hitler. The concerts have now been cancelled, and the promoter says ticket holders will be reimbursed.
