Police in Malaysia’s Sabah state are investigating the suspected killing of a 37-year-old Indonesian woman who worked at the FELDA Umas 6 plantation in Kalabakan. She was found on Monday at workers’ housing on Jalan Kalabakan with injuries to her hands, head and neck. A medical officer pronounced her dead at the scene at 8:15 p.m.
Tawau district police chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said officers detained the woman’s 38-year-old husband, who is also an Indonesian citizen. Police said the suspect had a neck injury after allegedly trying to cut himself with a sickle. He is receiving treatment at Tawau Hospital and remains in custody.
Initial investigations indicate that marital problems after the couple returned from a vacation may have led to the incident, Rosdi said. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of Malaysia’s Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. The allegation has not been proven in court.
