The US entertainment company announced the deal on Wednesday. Opened in Nanterre, west of Paris, in 2017, the arena can hold up to 45,000 people. It was previously known as Paris La Défense Arena and was renamed Plenitude Arena in July under a partnership with Italian energy group Eni.
The seller was Ovalto, the holding company of businessman Jacky Lorenzetti, who initiated the project and owned the venue. France’s competition authority said a legislative change at the start of September meant its approval was no longer required. The transaction was first announced in January.
Live Nation said it plans to invest in visitor and artist facilities, modernize the venue and make more dates available. The company said the arena would continue to host events organized by different promoters. Past events include concerts by the Rolling Stones, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift, Racing 92 rugby matches, and swimming and water-polo competitions at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Céline Dion is currently performing a residency there.
