Lee will compete in the men's under-81kg division and Huh in the women's under-57kg class at Aichi International Arena, part of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Both are seeking their first gold at the continental event.
Lee won Olympic bronze in 2024. Huh, who was born in Japan and is descended from a Korean independence fighter, earned Olympic silver in her division at the same Games. Thursday will be her Asian Games debut. Lee took silver at the previous edition in 2023.
Taekwondo also begins on Thursday, opening with poomsae, a non-contact discipline in which athletes demonstrate patterns from the traditional martial art. Yun Kyu-sung is viewed as a gold contender in the men's individual event at Toyohashi Gymnasium, about 85 kilometres southeast of Nagoya.
South Korea's men's field hockey team faces Malaysia in a semifinal at 7 p.m. at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium. South Korea has not reached the Asian Games final since winning the title in 2006; it collected two bronze medals across the next four editions.
