La Cordée, a Quebec retailer specialising in outdoor equipment, said it would cease operations in the coming weeks. The company made the announcement on social media and thanked customers for their trust and loyalty since it was founded in 1953.
The decision follows several years of financial difficulties. La Cordée sought protection from creditors twice in the past six years. Restructuring in recent months had already led to the closure of some locations, including a store in Laval and another in downtown Montreal.
The company said discounts at its remaining stores would begin on Wednesday. It had not provided further details about the closure schedule or next steps at the time of publication.
