Frontieras North America Inc. said it will build an approximately $850 million facility in Mason County, West Virginia, designed to process 7,500 tons of coal per day using its proprietary FASForm technology, marking a move from development toward commercial operation.

The proposed plant, slated for Mason County, will employ Frontieras’ FASForm technology—a process the company claims can efficiently convert raw coal into market‑ready product at a daily capacity of 7,500 tons.

The $850 million investment reflects the firm’s transition from a development‑phase technology provider to a commercial‑scale operator, according to the company’s press release.

Frontieras noted that the project’s progress hinges on securing a binding final investment decision (FID), obtaining the necessary permits, arranging financing and locking in offtake agreements with coal buyers.

If these steps are completed, the facility could become a significant catalyst for the company’s growth, providing a tangible commercial foothold for its FASForm technology in the U.S. coal market.
