Two people were killed and 35 injured in a shooting at a block party in Vienna, Georgia. Some of the wounded are teenagers. Authorities have not publicly identified suspects or a motive.
The shooting happened early Sunday, October 4, at a gathering marking the end of Dooly County High School’s homecoming week. Sheriff Craig Peavy said the two men killed were 21 and 23. Most of the 35 injured suffered gunshot wounds, and their ages ranged from 14 to 51.
Local and state officials said hundreds of people had attended the party. Investigators have not named any suspects or persons of interest and have not established a motive.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it would not presume what caused the shooting. Authorities said there was no continuing threat to the public.
