The state’s Regional Electoral Court said police drew up 23 incident reports, while five cases involved campaigning at polling places. More than five million people in Goiás were eligible to vote.

Brazil’s state of Goiás recorded 23 electoral offences and two arrests on election day. The figures were announced by Elizabeth Maria da Silva, president of the state’s Regional Electoral Court.

According to the Goiás State Public Security Secretariat, one arrest in Carmo do Rio Verde concerned a case of sexual harassment, while another in Campos Belos was for contempt of authority. Police stations also drew up 23 Detailed Terms of Occurrence, and five cases of election-day canvassing were recorded at polling places across the state.

The judge said her statement with the figures had been posted on social media. Despite the reported incidents, there were no accounts of arguments or fights in voting lines. More than five million people in Goiás were eligible to vote.
