Admiral Samuel Paparo is in India for a five-day visit, with talks expected to cover shared security priorities and emerging technologies.
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met U.S. Indo-Pacific Command chief Admiral Samuel J. Paparo on 4 October to discuss the countries’ security partnership and maritime cooperation in the region. U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor also attended. Jaishankar said in a post on X that the meeting covered those issues.
Paparo is visiting India from 3 to 8 October. He is expected to meet Indian military and government officials. The Hindu said potential areas of discussion include digital transformation, emerging technologies, regional strategic stability, defence energy resilience and challenges from greater technology competition.
The visit comes as India and the United States expand cooperation on maritime security, regional awareness, emerging technologies and military interoperability. They also work with Australia and Japan through the Quad, whose agenda includes maritime security, a free and open Indo-Pacific, critical technologies and regional resilience. The report announced no additional agreements.
