Jakarta ranks among cities with the worst air quality

IQAir gave Indonesia’s capital an Air Quality Index reading of 165 on the morning of October 6.

IQAir data at 5 a.m. on October 6 put Jakarta’s Air Quality Index at 165, an unhealthy level. The Indonesian capital ranked among the five cities with the worst air quality worldwide.

Dhaka, Delhi, Kolkata and Kuala Lumpur were listed ahead of Jakarta. Readings and rankings change during the day, so the figure is a snapshot of conditions at the time of measurement.

ANTARA relayed advice to avoid outdoor exercise, wear a mask outside and keep windows closed. The AQI describes air conditions at a specific time and does not by itself establish health effects for individual residents.
